Pity The Poor Foo'
Summer in Sydney means its time for the final Quarterbred for 2008! The December program at PACT space, boldly brings together local and interstate artists for collaborations working in video, dance, performance and installation.

Ship of Fools want you, sailor, for the open mike section. It will be an open opportunity for you to provoke, agitate, repent and stay afloat. Live the dream. Become a God. Register at quarterbred@gmail.com or just turn up on the night.
Ship of Fools is soon to set sail on it's volatile, caustic and sardonic journey. When you ask? Saturday 13 December at 7pm. Where you cry? PACT Space Erskinville. 107 Railway Pde Erko Who you passionately whimper? Kelly Doley, Zoe Coombs Marr, Janie Gibson, Claudia O'Dougherty, Anastasia Zaravinos, Ben Ellwood, Sue Thomas, Nick Capper, Billy Connelly and YOU.
Hosted by MCs Nick Sun (of PHUKLUB fame) and Frances-Francis (the bearded lady).
Our residencies include superstar artists from Sydney and Melbourne with artists talks Sat Dec 2o.
The project consists of an ongoing series events organised formally as three shows over three dates. Three artists/bands participate in each event, each playing two of these shows, and for a third taking on the role of 'sound engineer' for a live, treated documentation of each night's event. Recording and sound manipulation equipment is used at each show. This includes, importantly, one or more four-track cassette recorders, and one or more rapid cassette duplication machines. This equipment is not used to amplify the set, but for the live manipulation of the performed set. The project is designed to give opportunity for artists to present their creative work in a new format, as well as to begin a discussion on the future of music distribution. The project for the artist is concerned with ideas about collaboration and community.
The overall process will be heavily documented, the results of which compiled as source material for exhibitions and publications by the artist. Linked with these exhibitions and publications, the original performance tapes will continue to be distributed and shared.
Please bring a blank cassette to reproduce your own copy of the treated recordings. You can also bring a cassette recorder or boom box – the treated recording will be broadcast live on 107.5 FM at the venue.
