Honestly The Last Henson Post [...until next time]

Perhaps never more timely, NAVA and Watch On Censorship are holding a public forum to discuss the issues around the Bill Henson censorship controversy...

Watch on Censorship and the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA) present a public forum:

Art Censorship: The Bigger Picture

6 – 8 pm Thursday 12 June 2008

Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney

In the light of the furore surrounding recent censorship of the work of well-known Australian artist, Bill Henson, and in the interest of stimulating some informed and thoughtful public debate on this important topic, a panel of respected speakers has been convened to discuss the issues from a range of different perspectives at a moderated forum at the MCA.

MC - Margaret Pomeranz, ABC TV film critic

Chair - David Marr, lawyer, writer and journalist

Speakers - Ian Howard, artist, Dean of the College of Fine Arts, UNSW

Hetty Johnston, Executive Director and founder, Bravehearts

Julian Burnside
QC, barrister, writer and President of Liberty Victoria

Clive Hamilton, writer, public commentator and immediate past Executive Director of The Australia Institute

(TBC) Another speaker representing the gallery sector.

This is a free public forum and there will be plenty of time for questions. All welcome.
